What does MELLCOM make?

What is a louvered pergola?

A permanent frame with a roof of movable slats. A crank tilts them from open sky to a sealed panel, so the same structure gives shade, sun or rain cover without anything being put up or taken down.

What is the difference between a louvered pergola and a gazebo?

The roof. A louvered roof moves, and closes to full shade. The gazebo here has fixed polycarbonate panels that pass daylight through whatever the weather. One controls light; the other keeps rain off while staying bright.

What size pergola do I need?

Work from what goes underneath, not from the area. A dining set for six needs about 12 by 9 feet of clear floor once the chairs are out; a two-seat lounge group needs about 9 by 7. Every structure is measured against both on the sizing page.

Are the frames aluminium or steel?

Aluminium on the structures shown here, described by the manufacturer as rustproof. Aluminium does not rust the way steel does, which is the reason it is used outdoors.

What does BTU mean on a grill?

Heat output per hour. The three-burner grill here is rated at 36,000 BTU and the five-burner combination at 74,000. More output is not automatically better - burner count and grate material decide how evenly that heat reaches food.

Do the pergolas come with curtains?

The louvered models shown here include waterproof curtains and bug mesh. The 12×16 uses six pull-down screens instead, which close the sides rather than draping them.
